Prophet Owoseni

Nigeria Ceased To Exist Since Annulment of June 12, 1993 Elections – Prophet Owoseni

Midas Personality Interview

Prophet Gideon Adebare Owoseni is the Founder and Spiritual Father of Solution Cherubim and Seraphim Ministry in Ibadan. In this interview with Aanu Adeloye, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, he talked about the plethora of problems facing Nigeria, which include, insecurity, economy, unemployment, agitation for self-determination and secession from different quarters among others.

What is your assessment of Nigeria today and what is the position of God on the country?
Looking at the situation of Nigeria particularly in the area of insecurity from the angle of history, you will discover that all-powerful countries today had passed through this same terrible period. Countries like the United States of America (USA), in the 18th Century, passed through their own difficult period. America faced a lot of challenges in all sectors, be it economy, political, social, security and so on. It was due to all these challenges that led to the famous American Industrial Revolution before the country’s bounced back to become one of the world leaders today. Israel too passed through that terrible period. The enemies of Israel destabilized her and make sure that they were scattered. It was the richest among them that can afford to eat the pieces of pigeons before they get together and became one of the world leaders today. If you look at 2 Kings 6: 24 to Chapter 7, you will read about the story of two women fighting over a child. The two agreed that they should kill and eat the child of the first woman today and the second day, it shall be the turn of the second woman, but, the woman refused and they started fighting over the child. Along the line, the case was brought to the attention of King Benhadadi, it was during the scarcity of food and other essential commodities in Samaria. He tore his clothes, furious and queried, where is Prophet Elisha when this is happening in Israel? God that solved this problem and put an end to the scarcity shall definitely show Nigerians the way out.

Don’t you think that the plethora of problems facing Nigeria is due to the ineptitude on the part of President Muhammadu Buhari?
Although Buhari has contributed to Nigeria’s problems, to me Buhari alone is not responsible for all the problems in this Country. What about the big Pastors, Prophets, Apostles, Bishops, Imams, Sheikhs and so on that always hold meetings with him? What have they be discussing with him? Have they been telling him the truth about Nigeria’s situation or they are holding meetings with him to deceive him to feather their own nests? Like I said earlier, even in the Bible, the leaders always believe in the spiritual advice and solutions from the men of God, but what is the advice and solutions of the men of God in Nigeria to the plethora of problems in the country today? If you visit some churches today, you will see that the congregation are so sad because they were neck-deep in poverty, but, what about their Pastors and Bishops? They are very rich. Can’t you see the controversy which the ban of tweeter had generated, because these big men of God communicate with their wealthy members abroad through it, not because of any other thing? To me, these men of God too should be blamed for the problems of this country, not Buhari alone. It was the media that reported one of these men of God that said he purchased three aircraft during the Covid- 19 last year. What has he done to improve the lives of the members of his congregation from whom he collected the money from? But let me say this, the solution to this country’s problems will come by 2025. But, whether we like it or not, 11 prominent Nigerians will die before this country can have lasting peace.

Are you not worried by the daily increase of insecurity, maiming, kidnapping, raping and killing of innocent Nigerians by Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen and other bandits?
Like I said initially, many developed countries had passed through similar problems, by so doing, ours as a giant of Africa is not going to be different, but what makes our situation more worrisome is the position of the Federal Government. It is an open secret that the government is supporting Fulani herdsmen. Some people are saying it is because Mr President is Fulani. See the rate of kidnapping and killing by these people across the country, see the recent killings at Igangan in Oyo State here. What about the wanton killings in Benue State to the extent of which Governor Ortom lambasted Buhari and even called him a Fulani President. But like l said, the religious leaders are not helping him by not giving him good advice. This country will be at peace by 2025, after the death of 11 prominent people.

The increased insecurity situation and the position of the Federal government are encouraging ethnic agitations for secession and self-determination. The Yoruba Nation is agitating for the Oodua Republic why the South East is agitating for the Biafra Republic. How do we resolve this?
Let me tell you and the entire world the bitter truth. Spiritually, Nigeria ceased to exist as a country since the June 12, 1993, general elections. June 12, 1993, the general election was conducted and won by Late Chief M.K.O Abiola, but annulled by self-styled Nigeria`s Military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, assisted by some of his cohorts. God really loves Nigeria and wanted us to be a true giant of Africa and thereby blessed the country with that election for us to quickly reach our destination, but, the plan was thwarted through the criminal annulment of the June 12, 1993 elections. That was the genesis of the problems this country is passing through today. The agitators for Oodua Republic, Biafra Republic and, l even heard in the news that Hausa too, are ready to go their own way. All the agitations are working towards the actualization of the spiritual position of God that followed the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election. God is interested in the case of Nigeria because of His sons and daughters, I mean the anointed followers of Christ that were being persecuted by the leadership of this country. So, He allowed the country to be broken up spiritually since the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election. Nigeria is no longer a united country as we used to know it, and prayers cannot unite it again. We will just be patching it till the final disintegration.

What about the Constitution review that some people are calling for?
A review of the constitution or restructuring will further divide the country. You see, spiritually, if God talks, as the spiritual disintegration of Nigeria since the annulment of June 12, 1993, general elections, it may take 20, 30 or 50 years or more before it will come to pass. The election was adjudged the freest and Chief MKO Abiola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) won. He even defeated Alhaji Bashir Tofa of the National Republican Convention (NRC), in his Kano State homestead.

What is your assessment of Amotekun, the official Yoruba Security Network?
Amotekun is a good development. Our governors in the South West have done well with the establishment of Amotekun. My only fear is that people applied before joining. To me, people that can really do the job will never apply. For example, is Sunday Igboho a member of Amotekun? No, our governors should find means of bringing in those that can do the job without applying. At the same time, they should take all the necessary legal steps to solidify Amotekun. They should not fear the Federal Government because God is behind them.

Are you not worried about the rate of attack by the bandits or Fulani herdsmen on the palaces of Yoruba Obas?

To me, the day when the war started in Yorubaland was the day Fulani herdsmen began to kidnap the traditional rulers and demanded ransom. Kidnapping or killing Yoruba Obas is an insult to the enviable traditions, norms, culture and values of the Yoruba race and that of our forefathers. Did you know where we got it wrong? It was the moment the politicians are now picking or appointing the Obas for us. They will say, that is our man, he is a member of our party, then, he is going to be the next Oba of that town. We have neglected traditions. We don’t allow series of consultations again, which has led to killings and setting palaces ablaze. Did you know that the palace of a king in Yorubaland is a centre of authority and culture, values and so on of that town? It is very sad. Even in Great Britain that colonized us, they still consult the oracle before the installation of Queens. Consultation is even allowed in the Holy Bible. God asked Moses to look at the olive tree and through it, he got olive oil as a replacement for palm oil when it finished during their journey in Israel. Traditionally, it is what they always use for anointing and so on. Today, if any church or anybody is pouring palm oil on the floor, especially during the laying of the foundation, they will say such a person is an idol worshipper.

What is your opinion on the rate of unemployment and the exorbitant school fees particularly in private institutions?
Government should regulate through Nigeria University Commission (NUC), and their equivalents in other learning institutions, particularly private universities on the maximum fees payable by all the students. The bishops and pastors will obtain a licence to operate University with the money they gathered from the congregation but more than 80 per cent of the members will not have the financial muscle to send their children to such a school. It is too bad. Our religious leaders should copy the Catholic. They established Catholic Specialist Hospital, where they are taking care of eyes related problems in Ibadan, and up till today, it is still functioning. With little money, you can access treatment. Federal Government too should make the environment conducive for those that want to establish businesses for easy creation of employment.
