In recent weeks, the Nigerian social sphere is saturated with the rumour that Prince Arthur Eze, the self-proclaimed richest Igbo man alive, is alleged to be dead broke and needs divine intervention to get out of his current predicament as his Personal Assistance; Mr. Arinze Anyika, who is with him everywhere he goes, is said to be frantically looking for another job right away.
From the grapevine, all Arthur Eze’s private jets are allegedly grounded currently as he has not been able to maintain them for some time now. Also it is being rumoured that apart from making frantic efforts to put them up for auction sale, he’s currently looking for buyers for some of his choice lands and properties in Eastern Nigeria and Abuja.
As it is also being alleged, since he narrowly escaped death at the height of Covid-19 pandemic last year from an undisclosed deadly ailment, he has been practically sustained by the goodwill of top Igbo leaders and politicians who are his close associates, including some of the five Eastern governors.
According to information at the disposal of this media house, Prince Arthur Eze’s current economic woes allegedly began a few years back and worsened and heightened last year by global effects of Covid-19 on his businesses in sub-Sahara West Africa. His current predicament is also alleged to be direct result of some of his bad personal and business decisions.
As alleged, one of the bad decisions which have hugely affected him is his frontal battle with Prince Olisaebuka Okwuchukwu Eze and his brother; Prince Onyeka Nnadozie Eze, sons of Alfred Eze, his late younger brother, who have been the engine-room of his business empire for decades and whose lives he made a hell, using EFCC and some conniving law enforcement agents in Abuja and Enugu State since late last year.
Princes Olisaebuka Eze and Onyeka Eze, were arrested by the officials of the EFCC on Wednesday November, 11, 2020 as a result of a personal letter he wrote to then Acting EFCC Chairman of the Anti-graft body on November 6, 2020; alleging breach of trust by them against him and his company finances. Based on this, they were in the EFCC custody for more than two months on trumped up charges of embezzlement which were never proven in any court of law in Nigeria till date.
As it will be recalled, an Abuja High Court presided over by Justice S.B Belgore, on Friday, December 11, ordered immediate release of Prince Olisa Eze and Onyeka Eze, who had been detained since November 11 at EFCC custody.
Giving the Enrolment Order “In the matter of application for redress by the applicants for infringement of their fundamental human rights”, between Prince Olisa Eze and Onyeka Eze (the applicants) and EFCC and Price Arthur Eze, referred to as Respondents in the application, the Judge also ordered immediate unfreezing of all the Applicants’ bank accounts.
In the scanned photo copies made available to the Media by family of the applicants, the Order for their immediate release from EFCC custody and unfreezing of their accounts, was based on the Motion which was filled by Anthony O. Okpalah Esq. with Motion Number M12891/2020 and dated 9th December 2020, in the High Court of Abuja Federal Capital Territory, Apo, Abuja.
Based on the Motion, Justice Belgore ordered that the 1st applicant be admitted for bail in the sum of Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000) and a Surety in the same amount. The Surety, according to the Order, must be civil servant residing within the Federal Capital Territory.
In the Order signed Justice S.B Belgore, EFCC is asked to unfreeze immediately, all the accounts of the Applicants hitherto frozen by the Commission while case adjourned to 16-12-20 for hearing of the Original Motion M/12894/20.
Meanwhile all the orders of Courts of competent jurisdiction in the case between Prince Arthur Eze and his nephews were never respected by the oil mogul whose business has been in limbo since he began the obvious persecution of the sons of his late younger brother.
Not done with his nephews who were legally freed from EFCC detention earlier in the year by a Federal High Court, the embittered Prince Arthur Eze allegedly rechanneled his efforts at making life uncomfortable them to Enugu with the connivance of some elements in the State’s Command of the Nigeria Police. This is epitomized by a petition to Inspector General of Police by Mrs. Amarachi Eze, wife of Prince Olisa Eze, seeking for police protection for her family and that of Prince Onyeka Eze.
In this petition signed by Mrs. Eze, she alleged connivance between Prince Arthur Eze and some police officers in Enugu for “impunity, brute use power, abuse of office, criminal intimidation and conspiracy; acts capable of breaching/rupturing of public peace and unlawful cum criminal trespass on their private properties by the police officers”.
As she petitioned, her husband houses at No. 9a/9b S.G. Ugwuanyi Crescent, Phase 1 and No. 174 Ukpata Crescent Phase 1; Golf Estate Enugu were unlawfully invaded on the third and 11th of January 2021 by Prince Eze’s hatchet policemen. As also alleged in the petition her husband younger brother’s properties at No. 1 Victor Nwodo Close, GRA Enugu, No. 22 Uduma Street, New Haven, Enugu and at No. 3, St. Felix Avenue, Trans Ekulu, Enugu respectively were not spared in the assault.
The latest unprovoked and unjustifiable persecution of his nephews is an alleged intimidation of two Arthur Eze’s account officers in an Enugu branch of Fidelity Bank to implicate Olisa Eze on a 250, 000 thousand dollar Cheque earlier duly authorized by him (Arthur Eze) and given to Olisa to give the oil moguls’ business partners in Equatorial Guinea before the ordeal of his nephew in the hand of EFCC operatives in November last year. As alleged, because these lady bank officers refused Arthur Eze’s overtures to implicate his late brother’s son, they have been invited to EFCC headquarters in Abuja twice for interrogations.
From information by close associates of the embattled oil mogul, the most debilitating of his decisions, which landed him in his current predicament, is an alleged illicit affair with the wife of one of his workers in Lagos. The woman, who is also alleged to have spiritually bottled up Prince Arthur, is said to currently be the real CEO of his businesses and decision-maker.
As alleged, unknown to the embattled oil mogul, the woman whose love overtures were turned down by Arthur Eze’s nephews at different times, eventually ‘captured’ their famous uncle in love spell to take her pound of flesh from them for their refusal to be in illicit love affairs with her. Amongst others, Prince Arthur Eze allegedly responsible for the education of the woman’s two children in Canada and hospital bills of her father in London hospitals.
Lastly, this alleged Arthur Eze’s lovebird, who also allegedly stays and goes wherever he goes, is said to be the brain behind the oil mogul family feud which has climaxed in his current economic predicament as all his businesses have been allegedly grounded, making some his own children not to be in talking terms with him.
